Glenrothes 1995 bottled 2014

The first Glenrothes I've had, very good. Light bodied, medium amber colour. Nose of papaya (!), musty sea air and vanilla. Light toffe on the palate with white pepper. Medium finish. Not as complex as I was expecting but very good.

Glenrothes 1985

This is a great bottle -- arguably much better than, say, the Macallan 18, at a much more reasonable price. A very smooth and rich scotch, with a nice sweetness, coming I think, from sherry casking. No over-prominent notes; neither oak, nor peat, nor sweet. A wonderfully rounded flavor. Highly, highly recommended.

Glenrothes 1968 26 Year Old Sherry Cask

Really nice oily legs on the inside of the glass. Wood & sherry nose opens up with plums, marzipan & wild cherries appearing within minutes. Strong but mellow on the palate, burns all the way down in the best way. Is this cask strength?

Youngest offering from the Rothes distillery, found it last week in El Pelícano, lobby bar at Meliá Castilla Hotel, Madrid. Tasted it neat, then water, finally ice.
