A quieter brand than its Islay cousins Ardbeg or Laphroaig, Lagavulin let’s it’s whisky speak for itself. In part this may be due to the strategic interests of its owners, Diageo, who own many single malt brands but seem to focus their marketing on the Johnnie Walker blends - leaving the single malts to largely fend for themselves.
Fortunately the whisky from Lagavulin is more than capable of speaking for itself and has rightly garnered a legion of fans. The 16 year old is a magnificent whisky and a real favourite here at Whisky Marketplace.
Diageo regularly release a Lagavulin expression as part of the annual Special Releases and these are always a treat.
