The splendidly named Bonaventure Godet was one of the early pioneers of cognac production in the late sixteenth century. A dutchman by birth he set up a dynasty which continues to this day in the cognac house of Godet. Now owned by Diageo the company is still run by the Godet family with Jean-Jaques Godet, from the fourteenth generation of Bonaventure’s descendants, employed as CEO. Jean-Jaques’s three sons Jean-Edouard, Maxime and Cyril are all involved in the business, thus despite the ownership by Diageo, Godet remains very much a family concern.
