The exact age of Cognacs is frequently quite a mystery with bottles stating that they are old or extra old but very little else. Many of the releases from A de Fussigny have labeling which is closer to the Armagnac way of doing things. That is to say they have declarations of date of distillation, year of bottling or vintage. This means that quite apart from the fact that the distillery - which was established in 1814 and is located in the heart of Cognac - produces some extraordinary brandies, you are more informed about exactly what you are purchasing than you might be with the output of some other producers. This is a positive step which other Cognac distilleries could learn from and is sure to please cognac fans who are also whisky drinkers and therefore used to age statements.
